Industry :

Automobile

Project Duration :

7 weeks

Problem :

Car enthusiasts currently rely on a scattered mix of Instagram pages, forums, WhatsApp groups, classifieds, and news sites, which makes it hard to track events, find trusted parts, or stay engaged with communities.
Beginners feel intimidated by technical jargon and often face gatekeeping or disrespect at meets, while seasoned enthusiasts are frustrated by poor etiquette, unreliable sellers, and low event visibility due to social media algorithms.

Solution :

Drivn brings all key touchpoints into one app:

  • Communities: moderated discussion feeds, polls, and brand/interest filters to encourage healthy, inclusive conversations.

  • Events: calendar and list views with RSVP, location, and reminders so users never miss meets or shows.

  • Marketplace: verified seller listings with photos, ratings, filters, and transparent details to reduce scams.

  • News & updates: personalized automotive news feed with filters for models, motorsport, and industry topics.

  • Maintenance: a “garage” dashboard for vehicles, service history, and upcoming service reminders.

Challenge :

Key challenges included:

  • Designing a single information architecture that works for very different stakeholders (beginners, veterans, event organizers, and parts sellers) without overwhelming anyone.

  • Reducing toxicity and gatekeeping through UX decisions (clear code of conduct, community etiquette cues, and beginner-friendly flows) rather than only relying on manual moderation.

  • Making dense automotive content visually engaging yet easy to scan on mobile, which led to several iterations of brand selection, tiles, and onboarding flows after usability testing.

Summary :

Through user research, competitor analysis, and iterative prototyping, the project resulted in a high-fidelity Figma prototype with refined onboarding, navigation, and core flows for communities, events, marketplace, news, and maintenance.
Usability testing with target users validated the overall concept, visual hierarchy, and feature set, while surfacing issues around bland brand selection, unclear value communication on the home screen, and missing onboarding guidance, which were then addressed through redesigned tiles, a “Know Your Car” style widget, and a stepwise app intro.
The final outcome is a coherent, scalable product vision for Drivn, along with clear future scope including interactive spec viewers, personalized recommendations, comparison tools, and an AI chat assistant to further deepen engagement.
