Go and Grow

An ergonomically designed children’s bicycle with integrated digital features that enhances safety, comfort, and engagement while growing with the child.

Year :

2024

Industry :

Ergonomics

Project Duration :

6 weeks

Problem :

Most children’s bicycles are designed as scaled down adult bikes, ignoring children’s unique body proportions, comfort needs, and cognitive abilities. Poor ergonomics lead to discomfort, bad posture, and reduced riding time, while the lack of digital safety features increases parental concern and limits children’s motivation to ride regularly.

Solution :

A redesigned youth bicycle that combines adjustable ergonomic components such as seat height, seat position, and handlebar angle with a simple, child friendly digital interface. The bicycle includes safety features like improved braking, visibility elements, GPS tracking, and audio assisted alerts, along with gamified achievements to encourage regular physical activity.

Challenge :

The primary challenge was balancing physical ergonomics, digital interaction, and safety without overwhelming young users. Designing adjustable components that grow with the child, while keeping the interface minimal, distraction free, and intuitive for both children and parents, required careful human factors analysis and iterative design decisions.

Summary :

Go and Grow reimagines children’s bicycles by integrating human centered ergonomics with phygital design principles. Backed by primary research, anthropometric data, and usability heuristics, the final design improves comfort, posture, safety, and engagement, creating a bicycle that supports healthy riding habits, parental peace of mind, and long term usability as the child grows.
