A unified, biometric enabled ticketing system that eliminates queues, simplifies travel, and brings seamless access across all public transport modes.
Year :
2025
Industry :
Transport
Project Duration :
8 weeks

Problem :
India’s public transport ticketing system is fragmented and confusing, with long queues, unreliable gates, and multiple apps or cards needed for different modes. This creates daily frustration, slows down travel, and excludes elderly users, low literacy users, and others who struggle with complex interfaces.

Solution :
We propose a unified, modern, multimodal ticketing system that allows users to enter and exit public transport seamlessly without long queues, complex apps, or multiple cards.
A key part of this solution is the biometric access system, where users can simply scan their face (linked securely to a government ID) for instant gate entry. This removes the need for paper tickets, QR delays, or physical cards. For users who prefer alternatives, QR codes and Smart Cards remain fully supported, all managed through one central in‑app wallet.
The system ensures:
Faster station flow with near-instant gate response
Reduced ticket fraud and misuse using secure identity based validation
Fully inclusive access through multiple options (Biometric, QR, Smart Card)
One ID → All transport modes for metro, bus, and rail
In short: No tickets. No queues. Just tap, scan, or face-scan and go.

Challenge :
Creating a system that balances ease of use, security, and interoperability across different transport modes. Ensuring accessibility for diverse users, maintaining fast gate performance, and integrating new technologies without overwhelming or confusing commuters remain key hurdles
Summary :
India’s current public transport ticketing system is confusing, outdated, and slow, causing long queues, ticketless travel, and constant user frustration. Our solution introduces a unified, modern ticketing ecosystem powered by biometric access (face scan), QR codes, and smart cards, all connected to a single in app wallet. This creates a seamless tap and go experience, reduces wait times, improves accessibility for diverse users, and strengthens system efficiency. By integrating faster validation, smarter infrastructure, and inclusive design, the system moves toward a more reliable, secure, and user friendly future for everyday commuters.
